PA6: Process conditions for injection molding

Dryness: Because PA6 absorbs moisture simply, pay special attention to dryness before processing. If the information is supplied in water-resistant information packaging, the container should be kept tightly closed. If the humidity is greater than 0.2%, it is recommended to dry for 16 hours in hot air above 80 ° C. If the material has been exposed to air for more than 8 hours, vacuum drying at 105 ° C for more than 8 hours is recommended.
Melting temperature: 230 ~ 280 ℃, and about 250 ~ 280 ℃ for reinforced varieties. Mold temperature: 80 ~ 90 ℃. The mold temperature significantly affects the crystallinity, which in turn affects the mechanical characteristics of the plastic part.
The crystallinity is very important for structural parts, so the mold temperature is suggested to be 80 ~ 90 ℃. Regarding thin-walled, longer-flow plastic parts also require higher mold temperatures. Increasing the temperature of the mold can improve the strength and stiffness of the plastic part, but reduce the resistance. If the wall thickness is greater than 3mm, it is recommended to use a low temperature mold at 20 ~ 40 ℃. Regarding the glass reinforcement information, the mold temperature should be greater than 80 ° C. Injection pressure: generally between 750 ~ 1250bar (depending on data and product design).
Injection speed: high speed (slightly lower for enhanced data).
Runners and gates: Since the setting time of PA6 is short, the position of the gate is very important. The gate hole diameter should not be less than 0.5 * t (where t is the thickness of the plastic part). If a warm runner is used, the gate size should be smaller than the conventional runner, because the warm runner can help prevent the data from condensing prematurely. If a submerged gate is used, the minimum diameter of the gate should be 0.75 mm.
PA66 has a higher melting point in polyamide data. It is a semi-crystalline-crystalline material. PA66 can also maintain strong strength and stiffness at higher temperatures. PA66 is still hygroscopic after molding, and its degree depends primarily on the composition of the data, wall thickness and environmental conditions. In product design, we must consider the effect of hygroscopicity on the stability.
In order to improve the mechanical properties of PA66, we often participate in a variety of modifiers. Glass is the most common additive, and sometimes it also participates in synthetic rubber, such as EPDM and SBR, to improve impact resistance.
PA66 is less viscous and therefore has better fluidity (but not as good as PA6). This property can be used to process very thin components. Its viscosity is sensitive to temperature changes. The shortening rate of PA66 is between 1% and 2%. The participation of glass fiber additives can reduce the shortening rate to 0.2% to 1%. The shortening rate differs greatly in the flow direction and the direction perpendicular to the flow direction.
PA66 is resistant to many solvents, but less resistant to acids and other chlorinating agents.
